The importance of cinawa evidences the fact that this relatively small town disposed of a huge fortification already in the 19th century. Not far from each other there are situated a road-bridge joining Rawitz together with Lubin and a railway-bridge of the Glogow-Wroclaw line. The road-bridge itself show-off with its older fortification, which lies on its both sides. A remarkable attention was given to cinawa also during the Oderstellung construction. The works right on the banks of the Oder river were built already early in the 30th. In the later years the defence was intesified with second line pillboxes 500- 800 m off.
All the works, that were built in the area between the road- and the railway-bridge, are preserved without major damages. The situation in more distant places is far worse, all the works are almost ruined there. The first fort is built right into the basement of a building that stands on the left side of the road, direct in front of the beginning of the road-bridge. With its heavy machine-gun it applies fire sideways on the bank along the direction of the river. Thanks to its placement the work and also its interior preserved in a perfect condition. Other forts along the river are situated on a sort of a peninsula that separates the Oder river from the harbor with docks. You can get down on it direct from the road-bridge. First there is situated a passive shelter on the bank that has an additional observational cupola 9P7 fixed on its ceiling beam.
Under the railway-bridge there is another preserved work intended for the enfilade of a heavy machine-gun. It´s a simple bunker involving the only entrance that leads into a small room with an armoured door to the firing-chamber that served at the same time as a dormitory for the personnel. The heavy machine-gun was situated in the armour-plate 7P7. Until recently the whole fort was drawn. It´s relative "dryness" seemed as a nice surprise for us until we ucovered that the only reason for it was to enable to stealing the armoured door. In the distance of 200m there is situated presered personnel shelter, but it is fully deluged with water. From the second line defense works the pillbox lying not far from the road cinawa - Zaborów is the most preserved one. It´s a relatively large work intended for direct fire of one heavy machine-gun. The rear part was applied fire with a weapon placed in the gunport under concrete. There were two gates to enter the shared room, its inside was covered by three guarding gunports. From the hall you could go into large dormitories that served also for the launching forces. From the dormitories you could go to a small room, where a gunport for guarding of the entrances and an escape way were situated. On the opposite side there is the second entrance, which leads into the firing room, where a heavy machine-gun in the armour-plate 7P7 was placed, from which only a part in the area of the gunport and the observational aperture is cut out with an oxy-acetylene welder.
