Brzeg Dolny is situated cca 40km northeast from Wroclaw. The town itself extends on the right bank of the Oder river, whereas the left bank was fortified. The town got its strategic importance due to its relatively robust railway bridge (a road bridge isnīt here to this day, the carriage across the river is provided by a ferry). All the visited combat blocks are placed in the area between a flood-protection bank and the river. An appropriate attention was given to the defence of the above-mentioned ferry. However none of these works preserved to this day. The finding of its remnants isnīt very difficult, but their readability is far more complicated. The only delicacy of this territory are two works under the construction of the railway bridge. From the enemyīs side it was impossible to observe or to blast these bunkers thanks to their location behind one of the piers. From the constructional point of view the works can be regarded as a unique solution that was probably forced by the nonexistence of other constructional types of works. Instead of the bilateral work, usually used in the Oderstellung, there were used two one-sided bunkers built with their backs by each other. There were no embrasures for defence of the entrances. The armoured door led into a little hall, where there was another armoured door fronting to the shooting room, which served as quarters for the crew at the same time. The heavy machine-gun was placed on a concrete basement, in a nontype armour-plate with proportions 280 x 180 x 8cm. As a certain piquancy we can describe the sign in one of the works that informs about the height of water level in November 1933.
